It's Tradition: Mission Bouts on March 4th, 2016

This December the Aquinas Boxing team began its 84th season.  The team has an extensive history to honor and a hopeful future to look forward to. To uphold tradition, the annual Mission Bouts will be held on March 4, 2016.  Until then boxers have a great deal of work to do in preparation for the bouts.  Besides running, lots of pushups, and practicing their boxing technique, boxers will also continue the tradition of the Quote book. This book is shared day to day between boxers, and one quote is read every night at the end of practice.  Coach Dom Arioli emphasizes that boxing should not only train your body, but also your mind and spirit.

The boxing team has an exciting season in store, and they hope you will be a part of it!  A pancake breakfast and basket raffle fundraiser will be held at Applebee’s on Monroe Avenue January 17.  The baskets have exciting themes; some from last year were, “A night at the Movies,” “Valentine’s Day,” and “A Trip to Seabreaze.” As the date approaches, tickets will be sold by boxers and tickets may also be purchased at the door. For more details, check the Aquinas calendar as the date approaches.  Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to support the team’s biannual trip to Cincinnati where matches are held against Arch Bishop Moeller.  This year the matches against Arch Bishop Moeller will be held at Aquinas on February 13, 2016.

Each year brings a renewed excitement on the boxing team.  The boxers hope you can be a part of making this season even more successful than the many seasons of the past.
