Fashion Tips: Style Within The Dress Code

Personal style, especially in high school, is an important quality to develop because it allows people to express themselves as unique individuals. Some of you may feel that personal style has to be sacrificed in order to obey to the AQ dress code. Contrary to popular belief, there are ways to express yourself without getting a JUG. These tips will work for any style, simple, modern, preppy, retro- You name it!

Oxford blouses and twill pants must be worn, but there are very little limitations on accessories. Jewelry can make a bold statement and add of pop of color to your outfit. Crystals and pearls will give you a dressy look, while bright colors and flowers will add a dimension of fun.
Dangly earrings are not allowed but studs can have the same dramatic effect you are looking for.

Purses under 12" are allowed, which means you can express yourself and have a place for your pens, pencils, chapstick and wallet. Purses can be minimalistic or very detailed, bringing the entire outfit together.

Shoes are arguably the most important element in any outfit. Patterns are not allowed, but colors play a big role in completing the outfit. Try a bold red under black pants, or even pick flats with an accessory attached such as a bow or zipper!

Hairstyles can be an extension of yourself, projecting an image to the world. Try a messy updo or beachy waves for a more relaxed look, or dramatic curls paired with a dressy outfit. Straight hair will give you the sleek and simple look.

To showcase these tips, below are two completely different looks that use the same white Oxford blouse.
